Newtown Memorial Fund Establishes 1st Annual Golf Outing August 13th
NEWTOWN, CONN. (May 29, 2013) – The Newtown Memorial Fund, Inc., a sustainable fund created to support those affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, announced today the First Annual Golf Outing will be on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Whitney Farms Golf Club, located at 175 Shelton Road in Monroe. Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by lunch and golf with a scramble format. The cost to play is $150 per player and includes golf / greens fees, lunch, golf cart, cocktail hour, silent auction, buffet dinner and awards presentation. No golf handicaps are required for entrance. Non-players may attend the event and purchase dinner tickets for $50.
Founding Sponsors of the tournament are ZAG International, L.L.C. and Brooks Brothers Group, Inc. Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner up teams, the closest to the pin, and longest drive. The “Hole in One” prizes include a $10,000 gift to the ace maker and a $10,000 contribution to The Newtown Memorial Fund both sponsored by Premier KIA and Subaru of Branford. A new car will be awarded by Ingersoll Auto of Danbury. Silent auction items include multiple golf foursomes at prestigious clubs around the country and several exclusive pieces of sports memorabilia provided by Steiner Sports. All proceeds generated from the event will benefit the Newtown Memorial Fund.

At the moment we continue to seek corporate tee sponsorships, along with items for the silent auction and player’s raffle. We are happy to accept gift registrations in honor of Father’s Day, graduations or individuals wishing to sponsor a first responder foursome. The outcome of this event will significantly help continue our mission for those affected by December 14th, and establish a great annual tradition for our organization and its beneficiaries.”
Newtown Memorial Fund, Inc. is the first locally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in response to the Sandy Hook tragedy. The board of directors consists of local law enforcement officials, educators, business leaders, and professionals from the mental health, development and communications industries. Board members include current and former residents of Newtown.
Tee sponsorships are available for purchase and range in price from $250- $750. Each sponsor will receive an advertising sign located at a golf tee, placement in the golf outing brochure, a poster for use in their place of business and recognition at the awards dinner.
